Knife Making Classes

Our classes provide a comprehensive introduction to the art and craft of knife making through the stock removal method. This hands-on course is designed to guide you through every step of the knife-making process, ensuring you leave with a beautiful, handcrafted knife and a wealth of new skills.

What You'll Learn

1. Knife Design: Start with the basics of knife design, learning how to create a blueprint for your custom knife. We'll cover the principles of ergonomics and functionality to ensure your design is both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

2. Cutting of Steel: Learn how to safely cut steel to match your knife design. You'll get hands-on experience with the tools and techniques necessary to shape your raw materials.

3. Grinding of Steel: Master the art of grinding steel to achieve the desired blade shape and edge geometry. We'll teach you the fundamentals of grinding, including safety tips and best practices.

4. Heat Treatment: Discover the crucial process of heat treatment through oil quenching and tempering. This step is essential for achieving the perfect balance of hardness and toughness in your knife blade.

5. Fit and Finish: Finally, bring your knife to life with the fit and finish process. You'll learn how to attach handles, polish the blade, and add any final touches to ensure your knife is ready for use or display.
